Lost in the maze of all the tire categories they make for tires?
Which tire will work for you?
We have outfitted tens and thousands of cars with wheel and tire packages.
These are the questions we ask customers to steer them in the right direction.
- Things to consider before choosing a tire.
- Where do you live? -We want to know what type of driving conditions you will encounter and where you reside/frequent will usually dictate driving conditions.
- Daily driven vehicles usually opt for wet/dry performance tires like the Yokohama S-Drive, Nexen N7000, Kumho Ecsta ASX or Falken FK452; which give performance with longer tread wear. These tires are recommended for areas that see mostly dry conditions with occasional rain.
- Vehicles driven in dry, wet, and snow conditions usually opt for all season tires like the Toyo Proxes 4 and Falken Ziex-912. These tires are recommended for areas that see dry conditions, heavy rain, and occasional snow.
- Vehicles driven in dry weather only with performance in mind will opt for a summer performance tire like the Falken RT-615, Kumho Ecsta MX, and the Toyo Proxes T1R. These tires offer amazing dry performance and will work well on the street or track. These tires are recommended for only dry weather conditions as they provide little wet grip.
- Higher elevations usually require All-Season tires, these are tires that perform well in dry conditions but really focus on wet and snow performance. The Toyo Proxes 4, Falken Ziex-912, and Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 are popular choices for these applications. If you only drive in wet and snow conditions we highly recommend the Bridgestone Blizzak tires.
- Main use for tires
- Seasonal use - some people buy “summer shoes” and “winter shoes”… this allows someone living in Colorado to run the Falken RT615 or Kumho MX during the summer. During the colder months they opt for Toyo Proxes 4, Falken Ziex-912 or the Bridegestone Blizzacks.
- All Season - These are the people that want to put it on and forget about it. This is why the Toyo Proxes 4 and Falken Ziex-912 are so popular. They allow you to run the same tire even when the season changes. I personally have tried both tires and they work great… go with the Toyo Proxes 4 for a little more performance, go with the Falken 912 for more tire life and wet/snow grip.
- MORE GRIP! - Then there are those who’s main enjoyment is hanging every turn… or an occasional back roads run. The most popular would be the Falken RT615 and Toyo T1R. They will not last as long, but they will be fun!
- Price! Budget.
- Price is always an issue… everyone has a budget to stay with… the great news is that for almost every tire need, we have something that will work for you. The Nexen Tires, we just recently picked up this line, they are priced very well and have been getting great reviews.
