05.15EVO X Test fit!
We’ve been able to test fit some wheels on the newest Evo X. Turns out, the current Evo brake caliper sits a lot shorter than the previous generations.
First wheel; 18×9.5 Rota Torque with a +20 offset.
Fits quite alright!
Next; 18×9 G-Force with +30 offset
How does it look? We think it looks quite alright
Cheers,

It’s hard to follow up big acts, especially if that act is the legendary FD
RX-7. With a rotary under the hood hooked up with a turbo, the car is iconic. The community received the car well with the car’s responsiveness to modifications. Simple bolt ons to full on LS1 swaps have made their way into the RX7’s engine bay. With history like that, it’s interesting to see the RX-8. While it doesn’t have the same turbo layout under the bonnet, the car has its own personality. This fine example of a simple yet purposeful RX-8 belongs to Daniel Thurston from Rohnert Park, California.
What the car doesn’t have in boost, it makes up for with an engine that seems to rev until eternity. Coming from a WRX where the revs are a lot lower, this is definately a plus for Daniel. “My WRX would lose breath at around 6,000 where my RX-8 really wakes up,” he explains. The car is all around an awesome car. Daniel went on into detail about his buying experience, “It was between the 350z, S2000, an the RX8. I test drove them all and the RX8 just gave me the best of all the worlds; a 9k redline, four doors, four seats, rear drive, and a sporty interior to match the exterior.
The RX8 in factory form is a solid handling contender. With the proper attention, the car can be made to handle as if it were on rails. “I wanted a little more power, but mostly be able to handle. Anyone can go down a straight line, but it takes a true driver and car to make it handle everything that the road throws at them.” The RX8 proves perfect for him, with BC Racing Coilovers allowing him to make the adjustments to his driving style. Couple his setup with the roads that the Bay Area is blessed with, it is one hell of a combination.
Seeing as Daniel is only now getting started with this RX8, he looks towards the future. “If money were no option, the car would have a full turbo kit, though my mom doesn’t like how much money I put into the car…my pops, on the other hand, wants it to be a pure track car. My friends wonder why I got rid of my Subaru while still standing behind me, and my girlfriend is growing to like it.” It’s good to know that there are people who support you with your projects, whether friends or family. This is key considering that all the work done to this RX8 is by Daniel himself. “I like knowing what comes off and goes on when something new is installed. I feel like something might go wrong if I don’t do it myself, like miscellaneous bolts.” The hardwork does pay off, so congrats Daniel on being Wheeldude.com’s customer ride of the week.
