Wheeldude Car of the week: Giovanni’s G35

In the world of led lights and vertical doors, cleanliness and simplicity will always prevail. For this week we feature Giovanni Fana’s G35, rolling on Rota 18×9.5 +20 Torques. Between raising 3 kids and a wife , Giovanni has built one of the cleanest G35 we’ve seen. Pushing down 448WHP this car is no joke when it comes to power and elegance.

wheeldude: How much power are you making?
Glex: 398whp@ 7PSI, recently I had it at 9PSI and I put down 448WHP 430WTQ

wheeldude: wow how does it feel to drive something with soo much power?
Glex: Very hard to control in a tight AUTOX environment but great on a road course
Glex: thats why I also installed a Cusco RS LSD
Glex: Docile on the street unless you let it loose but great when you do also

wheeldude: Do you have any regrets?
Glex: none, enjoying it for what it is a great car with a great amount of power that has to be respected
Glex: Looks, power, drive ability it’s all there

wheeldude: what was your motivation behind your car?
Glex: I was originally looking to purchase a reliable RWD car. Look at the american cars some looked great on the outside but the interior were left with something to be desired. I started looking at German and Japanese cars. German cars were too expensive to maintain and had their own quirks. I started looking towards japanese vehicles my first choice was a 1996 Toyota Supra TT but the amount of money that was asked couldn’t justify its age. My criteria was 4 seats rwd japanese GT car and the only one that fit the bill was the Infiniti G35
Glex: I saw alot of potential in this car and the aftermarket parts that were available for it since it shared common parts with the Nissan 350z.
Glex: my criteria was 4 seats RWD Japanese Manual Transmission GT Car*
Glex: hoping to bring it to the power level that todays Supra owners enjoy.

wheeldude: How did your love for automobiles come about?
Glex: I since Junior high school I was looking at Automobile magazine and always fantasized over the italian exotics that covered the pages and the power that they made. In high school I started working part time at a mechanic shop learning as much as I could. My first vehicle 68 Camaro SS which I always worked on. My next vehicle was a 1995 Buick T-Type which was the year before the Buick Grand National made its appearance. Working on these vehicles gave me even that much more love for power and working on vehicles.

Choosing the proper tires…

Lost in the maze of all the tire categories they make for tires?

Which tire will work for you?

We have outfitted tens and thousands of cars with wheel and tire packages.

These are the questions we ask customers to steer them in the right direction.

  • Things to consider before choosing a tire.
    • Where do you live? -We want to know what type of driving conditions you will encounter and where you reside/frequent will usually dictate driving conditions.
      • Daily driven vehicles usually opt for wet/dry performance tires like the Yokohama S-Drive, Nexen N7000, Kumho Ecsta ASX or Falken FK452; which give performance with longer tread wear.  These tires are recommended for areas that see mostly dry conditions with occasional rain.
      • Vehicles driven in dry, wet, and snow conditions usually opt for all season tires like the Toyo Proxes 4 and Falken Ziex-912.  These tires are recommended for areas that see dry conditions, heavy rain, and occasional snow.
      • Vehicles driven in dry weather only with performance in mind will opt for a summer performance tire like the Falken RT-615, Kumho Ecsta MX, and the Toyo Proxes T1R.  These tires offer amazing dry performance and will work well on the street or track.  These tires are recommended for only dry weather conditions as they provide little wet grip.
      • Higher elevations usually require All-Season tires, these are tires that perform well in dry conditions but really focus on wet and snow performance.  The Toyo Proxes 4, Falken Ziex-912, and Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 are popular choices for these applications.  If you only drive in wet and snow conditions we highly recommend the Bridgestone Blizzak tires.
    • Main use for tires
      • Seasonal use - some people buy “summer shoes” and “winter shoes”… this allows someone living in Colorado to run the Falken RT615 or Kumho MX during the summer. During the colder months they opt for Toyo Proxes 4, Falken Ziex-912 or the Bridegestone Blizzacks.
      • All Season - These are the people that want to put it on and forget about it. This is why the Toyo Proxes 4 and Falken Ziex-912 are so popular. They allow you to run the same tire even when the season changes. I personally have tried both tires and they work great… go with the Toyo Proxes 4 for a little more performance, go with the Falken 912 for more tire life and wet/snow grip.
      • MORE GRIP! - Then there are those who’s main enjoyment is hanging every turn… or an occasional back roads run. The most popular would be the Falken RT615 and Toyo T1R. They will not last as long, but they will be fun! :)
    • Price! Budget.
      • Price is always an issue… everyone has a budget to stay with… the great news is that for almost every tire need, we have something that will work for you. The Nexen Tires, we just recently picked up this line, they are priced very well and have been getting great reviews.
    • FREE tire consultation! Call us at 510.651.2956 or email sales@wheeldude.com if you have any questions regarding fitment or any of the tires we mentioned in this article.

Enjoy your weekend.
